Knox's first haircut (with Emily @ Deeda Salon)

Before we left for our trip to Florida, Knox got his first haircut =D

I know that he doesn't have that much hair to cut off, but he has MARK'S HAIR, which means once his hair gets to a certain length, his cowlicks go CRAZY! So, I decided that this hair situation needed to be taken care of immediately.

Now, for those who know me well, you probably know that I DID NOT take my child to one of those kid versions of a Fantastic Sam's for his first haircut. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to sound like a snob (cause I'll coupon, thrift store, and goodwill with the best of them), but those cheap hair places give me nightmares. When it comes to certain things like food, makeup, shoes, HAIR, etc...I do turn into a little bit of a snob about it. I will pay top dollar for these things because I want quality, not quantity. So, when Knox needed a haircut, there was no question on where I needed to take him. My new favorite salon (Deeda Salon that's their Facebook page) and new favorite hairstylist/bangs magician ( Miss Emily Airoso her Facebook page).

A little fun fact about Deeda salon: There are hidden penis, boobs, and vagina's all over the salon...I know, right!!! How cool is that?! They're hidden in the stain glass windows, on the hinges of doors, the corners of moldings, even tucked away on the ceiling...it's like an X-rated version of 'Wheres Waldo?' Now, from my understanding, these carefully placed body parts were not put there by the salon owner, so don't get all crazy thinking that they go around creating salons to hide female and male genitalia...No, the building use to be the home of a local artist?...I think. He still owns the building and just rents it out, but apparently the strategically placed private parts were left behind (I hope I have those facts right...regardless the penis/boob/vagina's ARE there...and its awesome). I don't know who this artist/landlord/swinger is...but he is now my hero.

Here's a link if you would like to take a peek at this amazing salon (Deeda Salon), and if you live in the Sacramento area, you need to go visit Emily and get your hair did.  You wont be disappointed! Not only is the atmosphere amazing, but there is a plethora of talent there and everyone is super nice.

Back to Knox and his first haircutting adventure!

My goal Knox's hair is this look

Of course I'm using Kingston as my inspiration! Gwen's kids are like the most hella cool kids on the planet!

Since Knox doesn't have that much hair to work with, we kind of went for a modified version of the Kingston look. I like the look of the gelled down comb over...that's right...I said it...I like a comb over! Wanna fight about it!?

Look at that! Knox was such a trooper! He did such a great job, way better than I expected. I thought he would freak out the minute hair tools started coming close to his head, but Emily did such an amazing job keeping him entertained and giving him an awesome haircut...all at the same time!

Success! =D

P.S. If anyone was wondering...yes, I did almost cry...and yes, I did panic a little when the first piece of hair hit the floor.
